It was March 1st when I posted my first thoughts on starting this Ever Winding Road endeavor. I had decided to step out of your own comfort zones and change how I will make my way in this world. I wanted to take more photos and document the world around me, to find my voice in my experiences and really take the time for a bit of learning and gratitude, and to take a new approach in my life and be mindful of my own influences as well as my daughter’s. It has not been an easy year, and I still have bigger goals in mind, but I am so glad I took that first step.
As I look back on what has made a big difference in my outlook, it was to have the support of friends, family, and even strangers… who have offered so much encouragement in my journey. This Wednesday, I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who has offered that kindness.
Join me for a family-friendly, creative happy hour!
This Wednesday, in Oakland’s Makers Loft, please join me and my family to celebrate this milestone:
Relax after work:
Come by for some drinks and snacks. We will be going from 6-9pm.
Create with me:
Will have supplies for a family-friendly paint project. Some call it the Love Rock project, others call it the Kindness Rocks, whatever you want to call it the idea has caught and spread to a couple different countries already. The premiss is simple: paint a rock, hide a rock in plain sight. The idea is to share something special with your community, it may brighten someone’s day. If you find a rock, you can re-hide it or keep it and paint a new one. People all over have been hunting and painting, so you may have seen one out there and didn’t know it was part of this larger project.
My one condition is to not leave it in National or State Parks… practice a LEAVE NO TRACE policy in those areas to conserve our natural spaces.
More information on this movement can be found at:
the “chill pill” rock as found and photographed on Oakland Rocks! FB page.
Share your voice:
Postcards and stamps will be available for anyone who wants to participate in #theidesoftrump. Totally, optional.
Originally representing the date of Julius Cesar’s assassination, March 15th (also known as the “Ides of March”), will be another day of resisting.
As found on their website, theidesoftrump.com :
“ON MARCH 15TH, 2017 EACH OF US WILL MAIL THE WHITE HOUSE A POSTCARD THAT PUBLICLY EXPRESSES OUR VOCAL OPPOSITION TO THE NEW PRESIDENT. AND WE, IN VAST NUMBERS, FROM ALL CORNERS OF THE WORLD, WILL OVERWHELM WASHINGTON.”
